GOING STRONG for more than a quarter of a century, Zion Train have consistently delivered quality dub reggae, electronica, world, and dance music, as Galway will hear when they play the Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 9pm.
It has been a hectic two years for the long running band - founded by DJ/producer/mixer Perch in 1988 - marking their 25th year in 2014 and this year, releasing their new album Land Of The Blind, featuring regular vocalists Dubdadda, Fitta Warri, and Jazzmin Tutum, alongside Kathika R Abbit, Longfingah, and Damian.
Then again, Zion Train have always been busy. Alongside a mammoth recorded output and innumerable production credits, they have been involved in remixes, songwriting collaborations, producing magazines and internet sites, building sound systems, and founding the Universal Egg label. They have also played the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Scotland's Wickerman Festival, Brazil's Universo Parallelo, and Australia's Rainbow Serpent, as well as numerous festivals on the European continent.
Zion Train won Jamaican Reggae Grammy for Best Dub Album with 2007's Live As One, while 2011's The Very Best of Zion Train – Dub Revolutionaries was released on the respected world music label Nascente, home of releases from Skatalites, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
