Beardyman to DJ @ Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway

“A CROSS between a DJ, a comedian, and a human sound-sample library," is how The Guardian described Beardyman. It could have also added front-rank improv artist and entertainer to that description of the man who plays the Vodafone Comedy Carnival next month.

Beardyman (aka Darren Foreman ), a two times UK Beatbox champion, ability to combine his talents as a musician, comedian, and impressionist, makes him a unique and utterly engaging performer.

Although he has played Galway before, the Londoner's upcoming show at the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday October 25 at 7.30pm, is his comedy carnival debut. In it, he will ask the audience to suggest song titles and with startling speed of thought and bewildering musical dexterity, compose the album, on the spot, from those suggestions.

Foreman's interest in the possibilities of sound began as a child when he started imitating Police Academy's Michael Winslow. His first musical venture was composing a symphony for his school orchestra aged 10. He uses his dextrous vocal chords to make a series of sounds, then samples and loops his own voice - through a machine he constructed himself - to amaze and amuse. Expect to hear him conjure the sound of everything from crying babies to buzzing flies, not to mention mimic pretty much any musical instrument imaginable.

Beardyman has released two albums - I Done An Album (2011 ) and Distractions (2015 ). He has also shared stages with Orbital, Skrillex, Grooverider, Bill Bailey, Jazzy Jeff, and Blondie.
