Irish comedy favourites for Vodafone Comedy Carnival

ALL THREE Dylan Moran shows at the Black Box Theatre have sold out, as has Nina Conti’s Town Hall show, while only a few tickets remain for the incredible Stewart Lee at the Róisín Dubh. Fear not though, there are still plenty of great shows to see at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway.

Many of Ireland's finest comics, indeed some of the most popular and best loved funnymen and women will playing the Carnival during October, among them Deirdre O’Kane, the star in SKY1's Moone Boy, Intermission, and the 2014 award-winning biopic, Noble (The King's Head, October 23 ); Northern Irish funnyman Patrick Kielty, with his new show Help! (Róisín Dubh, October 20 ); and Ardal O’Hanlon (Spiegeltent, October 21 ).

There is a real treat in store at the Carnival when everyone’s favourite football meta-commentators, Après Match at the Black Box Theatre (October 23 ). Collectively satirising football punditry and more since 1998, it is impossible to think of Brady, Dunphy, Giles and the late, great, Bill O’Herlihy without thinking of their equally brilliant portrayals by Barry Murphy, Risteard Cooper, Gary Cooke.

The trio's new TV show, Après Match Of The Day, screened on RTÉ 2 on Monday nights, sees the lads look back at some classic matches and re-live what it was like to be there in the seventies and eighties. Punches are not pulled and pens will be thrown.

The Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway runs from October 20 to 26. The full line-up is on www.vodafonecomedycarnival.com and includes Jason Manford, , Jason Byrne, Andrew Maxwell, Rich Hall, PJ Gallagher, and Phill Jupitus.
