THE POETS Susan Millar DuMars, Robyn Rowland, and Elaine Gaston will read from their work at the Autumn Poetry Reading in the Galway City Library on Thursday September 17 at 6.30pm.
Susan Millar DuMars has published three collections with Salmon Poetry, and her latest, Bone Fire will also be published by Salmon in Spring, 2016. She published a book of short stories, Lights In The Distance, with Doire Press in 2010. She lives in Galway, where she and her husband Kevin Higgins have coordinated the Over the Edge readings series since 2003.
Irish-Australian Robyn Rowland has nine books of poetry, most recently This Intimate War: Gallipoli/Canakkale 1915 (Five Islands Press, 2015 ). Her work has appeared in 40 anthologies and journals, and in various editions of Best Australian Poems over the last 10 years. She won the Catalpa Poetry/Writers Prizes from Australian-Irish Heritage Association, Jean Stone Poetry Prize, Poetica Christi Poetry Prize, and the Writing Spirit Poetry Award (Ireland ).
Elaine Gaston was awarded the No Alibi’s Prize at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry, Queen’s University, Belfast, where she completed an MA in 2010. She won a Commendation in the National Poetry Competition, 2013, a Special Commendation in the Patrick Kavanagh Award in both 2013 and 2014, and was short-listed for the Bridport Prize in 2014. She has also won prizes in the Templar Poetry Pamphlet Competition and the Academi Cardiff International Poetry Competition.
