Josh McClory of The Strypes @ Roctoberfest

More acts announced for live music weekender at Monroe's

JOSH MCCLORY, the guitarist and main songwriter with the great Cavan blues-rock/r'n'b band The Strypes, is among the latest acts confirmed to play Monroe's Live as part of its Rocktoberfest event from October 1 to 4.

Josh will play a DJ set and there will be live sets from Crow Black Chicken, The Mighty Stef, Brain Donation, The Eskies, and Gypsy Rebel Rabble, along with the already announced Hot Sprockets, Vann Music, D-Day, Plutonic Dust, Grounds For Invasion, and others.

The Mighty Stef, led by singer-songwriter Sefan Murphy mix folk, indie, roots, and rock, who cite The Walkmen, Arcade Fire, Band Of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Primal Scream as inspirations. They enjoy a cult following in Europe and The US, and have played SXSW, Forbidden Fruit, and Electric Picnic, and supported Bob Geldof.

Dublin-based bluegrass band Gypsy Rebel Rabble have a reputation for energetic live shows. They merge a furious DIY punk song-writing and performance ethic with a smooth vocal style that emphasises harmonies. They have played Vantastival, Knockanstockan, Jack of Diamonds Rhythm and Roots Festival, and Electric Picnic

Trio Brain Donation play powerhouse, no nonsense, alternative rock with close harmonies, grungy guitar, and heavy dance beats. The Eskies play folk noir/gypsy jazz to the festival with foot stompin’ rhythms. Crow Black Chicken have earned a reputation as one of Ireland's top blues acts and cite Gov't mule, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin as influences.
