Cloon Keen Atelier win Irish Times best specialist shop award

Galway perfumer, Cloon Keen Atelier, have been named ‘Best Specialist Shop’ in the annual Irish Times ‘Best Shop Awards’ for their shop on 21a High Street.

The Best Shop Awards were established in 2012 to highlight retailers who are making a difference in retail. First, customers across Ireland nominate their favourite shops and then the winners are chosen by the Irish Times Judges.

The Cloon Keen Atelier philosophy starts with the very definition of the word ‘atelier’. Simply meaning ‘workshop’, an atelier is a place for artisans to hone their craft. Using the world’s most rare and precious ingredients, Cloon Keen Atelier artisans use age-old traditions passed down through the centuries to craft their hand-made products.

Cloon Keen Atelier was established in 2001 by Margaret Mangan and Julian Checkley after a decade-long career of working in the art department on feature films. The founders have drawn inspiration from this background to create a perfume collection which tell stories with a pared-down, yet dramatic, simplicity.
