Hot Sprockets to play indoor music festival @ Monroe's

THE HOT Sprockets are among the first round of bands announced for Galway’s new indoor music festival, Rocktoberfest. The event takes place in Monroe’s Live from Thursday October 1 to Sunday 4, and will feature more than 20 acts across two stages.

Blues-rockers The Hot Sprockets have won acclaim for their raucous and energetic live shows, as well as for their albums, Honey Skippin' and Brother Nature. They have supported The View and the Divine Comedy, and played Indie-Pendence, Castlepalooza, and Electric Picnic, not to mention a sold out show at London's famous The Roundhouse venue.

Also playing are Dublin pop/rockers The Geddes, whose debut EP (Human ), released in May this year, reached No 1 on the iTunes pop album chart and No 2 on the overall iTunes album chart; indie-punks The Klares, who released their second EP Cookoo in May, causing U & I Magazine to declare they "could very well be the first Irish band in a generation to actually get excited about"; alternative rockers, The Woodburning Savages, whose music mixes fuzz guitar and infectious, pop/rock melodies; Dublin indie-folkers Orchid Collective, who released their debut single ‘Figure It Out’ this year; Galway rock band D-day, who opened for Thin Lizzy at the 2012 Volvo Ocean Race festival; and indie/alternative band Youth Mass.

Electronica fans can look forward to the great Galway indie-electro duo, Grounds for Invasion. They have already been tipped as a band to watch for 2015 by both HotPress and The Irish Times. They released their debut album, Dying Stars earlier this year; electro quartet, Vann Music, who reached No 7 in the Irish Airplay charts with ‘Tina’. Their EP Running was produced by Stephen Hague (New Order, The Pet Shop Boys ); and Plutonic Dust, featuring vocalist Veronica Moran.

R’n'B’ and soul comes to the festival in the guise of Tobi Kaye, who has won praise for his soft rock tones and soulful voice.

"We are extremely excited to be hosting Rocktoberfest again this year," said Gary Monroe. "I’m delighted to provide a festival and a stage for emerging Irish talent."
