NEW YORK singer-songwriter and international charity worker Mike Scala is a man who enjoys doing things independently. Along the way, he has toured the world, worked with leading musicians, and made fans across the globe.
Mike, along with his band - Eli Menezes (guitar, backing vocals, Jovol Bell (drums ), Marcus Miller (saxophone ), and Luke Capon (bass ) - play Monroe's Live on Saturday September 12 at 9pm as part of the singer's current world tour.
In 2009, Mike embarked on his first self-financed tour across the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, setting a World Record by performing the first concert on the Franz Josef Glacier on New Zealand's South Island. In 2011-12 he performed in 150 cities and 17 countries, and sold more than 28,000 albums. He has performed with One Republic, The John Butler Trio, DJ VH1 (Lady Gaga's DJ ), Ryan Sheridan, and The Coronas.
He established the Mike Scala Foundation for Youth in 2009, which is recognised by UNICEF. It provides aid and educational opportunities for at-risk youth across the US and developing countries. His recent work took him to Central America to protect at risk children from sex trafficking, getting them into safe houses, and providing food, clothing and education.
