Fregoli chosen as first recipients of Michael Diskin Arts Bursary

Galway theatre company Fregoli will perform a new original production on August 21 and 22, as a result of being awarded the Michael Diskin Arts bursary last year.

At the time of awarding, bursary chairman Claude Madec said: “We are delighted to award the bursary to Fregoli Theatre Company. We are certain that their project will fulfill the spirit of the award, which was to bring people together for a shared cultural experience, and we are sure that the general public will be as impressed as we were by what Fregoli have to offer.”

Madec commended the other applicants, and paid tribute to the artists who took part in the Concert for Mike last year to raise funds for the bursary: “Without the generous contribution of all who took part, especially Ollie Jennings who organised the event and the bands who freely gave their time, it would not have been possible for us to award this bursary at all. We feel it is a fitting tribute to Michael Diskin who passed away three years ago, having dedicated his life to the promotion of the arts in Galway.”

Fregoli’s new show, Pleasure Ground, written by Jarlath Tivnan, will take place in the Town Hall Theatre on Friday and Saturday, August 21 and 22, at 8pm. Book tickets by calling 091 569777 or at www.tht.ie
