THEIR LIVE shows were among the most incendiary and thrilling delivered by any Irish band in the noughties. At times it was hard to believe their furious, visceral mix of punk, hardcore, and metal, was the work of just two guys.
They were Limerick's Giveamanakick - Steve Ryan (vocals/guitar ) and Keith Lawlor (drums ) - and while they called it a day in 2009, Steve going on to explore a more melodic side to his writing with the acclaimed indie-rock band Windings, and Steve going into design, the pair have reunited to mark the 10th anniversary of their second album, We Are The Way Forward.
Giveamanakick will tour Ireland, taking in the Róisín Dubh on Thursday September 24 at 9pm while Out On A Limb Records will release We Are The Way Forward on a very Limited Edition 180grm Heavyweight Vinyl LP.
The album was originally released on CD in November 2005. It was not available on iTunes. Spotify did not exist, and it was a hit with critics and Irish indie fans. Hot Press said it "combines the ugliness of brute force with the beauty of invention…A classic"; Foggy Notions declared it "one of the best noisy albums to come out of Ireland in recent times"; and The Irish Times praised its "unlikely hooks and wild sense of abandon".
Giveamanakick would go on to tour across Europe, Canada, and the USA, before releasing their final album, the also magnificent Welcome To The Cusp, in 2009.
