Philip Donnelly - new album and Monroe’s Live show

IRISH GUITARIST Philip Donnelly, who has worked with Gary Moore, Donovan, and Johnny Cash, is undertaking a solo acoustic tour to promote his new album Beyond the Pale.

The album was recorded in Beechpark Studios in Dublin and features the Mid Atlantic Rhythm Section as well as duets with John Prine ('The Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness' ) and Crystal Gale 'Living In These Troubled Times'. Philip will perform songs from the album, and from across his career - which has embraced Celtic, country rock, and blues - when he plays Monroe's Live on Friday August 21 at 8pm.

Philip's professional career started in Dublin in the early sixties when he joined the Oscar Whifney Quintet, who eventually became Portrait. He went on to to join Donovan and later the Gary Moore band which brought him to America. It was here that he met and teamed up with Lee Clayton, resulting in four albums. Philip spent the next decade in Nashville where he recorded some 2,500 songs with various artists. Among those he has worked with are Clannad, The Everly Brothers, Clint Black, Paul Brady, and Steve Young. He also co-wrote Crystal Gale’s number one hit ‘Troubled Times’.
