OF ALL the places to host an art exhibition, a cattle mart seems the least likely location, but sometimes art needs to step outside the galleries and meet new audiences in new places.
The mArtists Group - Sallyann Beirne, Donnacha Cahill, Tricia Fahy, Maria Hitchcox, Aideen Monaghan, Elaine Quinlan, and Kathy Ross - will display their work at the mArt Exhibition, in Sales Ring Number 2 of the Athenry Mart. It will be officially opened by Fine Gael TD Ciaran Cannon on Friday August 14 at 7.30pm and features painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and textiles, investigating the cultural, economic and social life of the mart.
