THE GALWAY Arts Centre is running a summer art school for young people aged between 13 and 16 interested in visual art, drama, and literature.
The classes have been developed and will be run by artist Fiona Hession, with assistance in drama by Lily Kaufman, and assistance in literature by GAC’s head of visual art and education, Maeve Mulrennan. Participants will be encouraged to use their imaginations to experiment, create, and explore different projects; create prints and ceramics; and devise an original drama project.
“Many young people we encounter, through our exhibitions, events and festivals, are extremely creative; be it in art, gaming, design, or science," says Maeve Mulrennan. “The GAC Art School aims to bring like-minded young people together to be creative, try new mediums, and receive mentoring in a supportive environment.”
Classes run from Monday July 27 to Friday 31 from 9am to 2.30pm at the Galway Arts Centre, Dominick Street, and cost €100 per person. Pre-booking through www.galwayartscentre.ie or 091 - 5656886.
