Claregalway secured victory over Dunmore in the opening round of the County Senior Ladies Championship on Friday night.
In an evenly contested opening half, Claregalway took the lead with a fortuitous long range goal plus a second in stoppage time to give them a 2-8 to 0-4 lead.
Two second-half goals brought Dunmore back into the game, but, aided by a strengthening breeze, Claregalway cruised to a deserved 3-15 to 2-5 victory.
Ava Fitzmaurice was outstanding in defence, Aisling Murphy was effective in the forwards, and Andrea Glynn did a great job at wing back and also managed to shoot a great point in the second half.
