GALWAY TEENAGER Aimee Banks will perform at New York's Carnegie Hall in December, after winning a first place and Judges' Distinction Award at the American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2015.
Aimee, who is 13 and from Moycullen, and who is a Stage 3 student with Stagecoach, will perform in the iconic venue's Weill Recital Hall on Saturday December 19 as part of the American Protégé Winners’ Recital. "When I heard that I had won I was so excited. Performing at Carnegie Hall in New York is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can't believe it's happening to me!" said Aimee. "I have always wanted to be a professional singer and this event is definitely a step in the right direction!"
Stagecoach principal John Lucey said: "We are very proud of Aimee, her mum and dad and voice coach Michel Durham will echo that she truly deserves this success. We don't always celebrate young people's awards but all of Galway should watch out for this young lady's very bright future with interest."
Places still available for Stagecoach courses
Stagecoach has limited places for its Alice The Musical summer camp at St Mary's College, from Monday July 13 to Friday 17 with aspiring Mad Hatters aged between six and 15 being sought.
