LOUIS DE PAOR, Eamonn Wall, and Alan McMonagle are among the writers reading at the Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering at the Galway City Library on Thursday June 25 at 6.30pm.
The event is a special showcase by contributors to the poetry publication Skylight 47. Louis de Paor is one of the country's leading Irish-language poets, and was a key figure in the Irish language poetry renaissance of the 1980s and 1990s. His most recent publication The Brindled Cat and the Nightingale’s Tongue.
American Carlos Reyes is the author of the poetry collections Pomegranate, Sister of the Heart, and The Book of Shadows: New and Selected Poems. He is currently in Ireland to promote his first book of prose, The Keys To The Cottage, Stories from the West of Ireland. Wexford born, Missouri based, Eamonn Wall is the Smurfit-Stone Corporation Professor of Irish Studies/Professor of English at the University of Missouri-St Louis. His most recent publication is Junction City: New & Selected Poems.
Galway's Alan McMonagle has had poems published in The Shop, The Moth, The Stony Thursday Book, and Crannóg. He has also written two collections of short stories, Liar Liar and Psychotic Episodes. Anne Tannam poems have been published widely and she has read at Electric Picnic and Cúirt. Dublin's Brian Kirk is an award winning poet and short-story writer.
