Kilkenny legend heads to Kilbeacanty 

Kilkenny hurling legend Henry Sheflin will open Kilbeacanty's new pitch on Monday as the club hosts the annual seven-aside hurling tournament.

This year's Kilbeacanty sevens coincides with the club's 130th  anniversary celebrations and the official opening of the recently re-developed pitch in Kilbeacanty.

The 10-times All Ireland winner attend the celebrations, while his club and current All Ireland Club champions, Ballyhale Shamrocks, will compete in the tournament which boasts a host of local teams from Galway and Clare.

Galway County champions Gort and recent All Ireland Club champions St Thomas’ and Clarinbridge will be hoping to win this year's title which has a prize fund of €7,000 in hotel breaks and sports training vouchers on offer to the winning team.

The tournament starts at 2.45pm, preceded by the finals of the Joe Gillane Juvenile Tournament at 1pm.
