Lúnasa play Monroe's Live in June

Acclaimed trad band to play Galway Sessions 2015 festival

THEY HAVE performed more than 1,500 shows across 36 countries since forming in 1997, and their line-up features some of the most respected names in contemporary Irish trad. They are Lúnasa.

The band - Kevin Crawford (flutes/low and tin whistles ), Trevor Hutchinson (double bass ), Ed Boyd (guitar ), Seán Smyth (fiddle/low whistle ), and Cillian Vallely (uilleann pipes/low whistles ) - play Monroe's Live on Thursday June 18 at 8.30pm as part of the Galway Sessions trad music festival. This will be the quartet's first show in the city since 2007.

Lúnasa has performed at The Hollywood Bowl, the National Concert Hall Dublin, Sydney Opera House, and the Moscow International House of Music, and have sold more than quarter of a million albums in the course of their career. Outside the band, Trevor Hutchinson toured with his former colleagues in The Waterboys; Cillian Vallely collaborated with Bruce Springsteen on his 2014 album High Hopes; Kevin Crawford toured with Martin Hayes and John Doyle as The Teetotallers; while Ed Boyd has toured with Cara Dillon.
