So said The Sunday Times's Paul Sexton about the English singer-songwriter who plays the Róisín Dubh tomorrow at 8pm. When it comes to playing live Baxter has this to say about himself: "“I try to go into a zen-like state when I’m performing, because it’s important for me to realise that everybody has the potential to be affected by music. As an artist, that’s my aim.”
After critical and public acclaim for his albums – Feather & Stone and Skybound – Tom took time out to rediscover his passion for music. It was a journey that took him from Devon to India to southern Spain, and California. The end result was 2013's The Uncarved Block – Part One which showcased his masterful guitar-playing and the raw, confessionary, depth of his lyrics and voice.
Tom's songs have been covered by Dame Shirley Bassey and Boyzone, while songwriters of the stature of Tom Waits and Rufus Wainwright have spokenof their admiration for the Englishman.
