The Young Folk to play The Loft

THE YOUNG Folk, “one of the most promising young bands to come out of Ireland in several decades,” according to Maverick magazine, play The Loft (formerly Kelly’s ) this Saturday.

The band - Anthony Furey (guitar/vocals ), Tony McLaughlin (bass/mandolin/vocals ), Paul Butler (keyboards/vocals ), Alex Borwick (trombone/mandolin/banjo/guitar ), and Patrick Hopkins (drums/vocals ) - who count Uachtaráin na hÉireann Michael D Higgins among their fans, will play songs from their debut album, The Little Battle.

Hotpress called The Young Folk “serious challengers for the area populated by the likes of Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, and The Low Anthem.” They have played SXSW, The Cambridge Folk Festival, Electric Picnic, and Castlepalooza, as well as appearing on RTÉ, TV3, and TG4.

The brilliant Galway singer-songwriter Miriam Donoghue will support. For more information call 091 - 563804.
