THE SHORT stories of Cork born author Frank O’Connor are universally regarded as being classics of their kind. Now, for the first time, three of those funniest stories are being brought together as the play God Bless The Child.
God Bless The Child will see the classic stories, My Oedipus Complex, The Genius, and First Confession brought together within a single full-length play. Adapted and directed by Patrick Talbot, it runs at the Town Hall Theatre on Monday April 20 and Tuesday 21 at 8pm. Funny and moving, it is richly evocative of Ireland in the early decades of the 20th century.
The cast features Shane Casey, Gary Murphy, and Liam Heffernan. The play is a co-production between Patrick Talbot Productions and Cork’s Everyman Theatre. It comes to the Town Hall as part of a national tour which has proved a hit with critics and audiences alike, The Irish Times hailed the show as, “a thoroughly enjoyable parcelling of three of Ireland’s best short stories”.
Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie
