Galway ladies qualify for league semi-final

The Galway Ladies have qualified for the division one league semi-final against Dublin on Sunday week after an impressive 1-16 to 2-06 victory over Mayo last weekend.

Kevin Reidy's team finished top of the division one table too as Dublin defeated Cork last weekend. In the other league semi-final, Cork and Kerry will be in opposition.

Patricia Gleeson, Annette Clarke and Tracey Leonard led the way for the Supermac’s sponsored Galway side in the early stages of the clash with Mayo, with Leonard scoring Galway's only goal.

Other scorers for Galway in the first half were Lorna Joyce, Annette Clarke, Ger Coneally and Edel Concannon as Galway were well ahead by 1-10 to 1-02 at half-time.

Galway goalkeeper Johanna Connolly made a terrific save from a Cora Staunton penalty in the second half to ensure her team would reach the last four.
