The Connacht Property Auction notes improved outlook for 2015

The Connacht Property Auction team is inviting entries for its next auction on April 23, which will be held in The Menlo Park Hotel, Galway.

The auction group, which works in partnership with more than 40 auctioneers across Connacht, reports an improving economic outlook, improved consumer sentiment, and increased levels of mortgage lending.

Patrick Folan of The Connacht Property Auction, says these improving factors have all supported more activity in the property market.

“We envisage extra activity in the build up to Easter, especially from UK buyers who are benefiting from strong exchange rates currently. An increase in the number of first-time buyers within the region is also anticipated, leading to an increasing demand for good family and starter homes of which there is a shortage currently.”

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show in the month of January residential property prices fell by 1.4 per cent nationwide. Despite this fall, residential property prices remain up considerably over the last 12 months, he says.

“ It must also be noted the CSO figures do not take cash buyers into account which makes up a large proportion of sales. Prices are anticipated to continue increasing in 2015 albeit at a more modest rate than 2014.”

The Connacht Property Auction has more than 100 properties for sale in the region currently.
