THE NUI Galway Theatre Week 2015 runs form Monday February 23 to Friday 27, showcasing student, college society, and alumni talent through theatre, literature, and film.
The main event is the Jerome Hynes One Act Series in The Cube Theatre from Tuesday 24 to Friday 28. Work by eight student playwrights and directors will be staged, with productions ranging from comedy to pathos, and exploring issues of crime, loneliness, ambition, friendship, and dysfunctional relationships.
The plays are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1pm (tickets €5/3 ), and Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm (€8/5 ). Each play lasts 20 minutes. There will be an omnibus edition on the Friday at 8pm (€10/8 ), including a ceremony for the Jerome Hynes Best Production Award, and a feedback session from the adjudicators.
The Societies Variety show, presented by NUIG’s Musical and GiG societies, is on Monday 23 at 7pm in The Cube, with performances from Music Soc, Dance Society, and Dramsoc’s Staged & Confused improv troop. In collaboration with Ability West, the Dramasoc is devising a performance which will take place on Thursday at 3pm in The Cube.
