A girl caught in the middle of extremes

MARIA IS a 14-year-old caught between the extremes of a strict Catholic community and secular classmates who bully her for remaining religious.

German film Stations Of The Cross (2014 ) will be screened by the Galway Film Society in the Town Hall Theatre this Sunday at 8pm. Directed by Dietrich Bruggemann, it is an often allegorical adventure of a young girl on the edge of adulthood. Nick James in Sight & Sound praised its “‘wicked’ sense of humour, which only enhances its perfect poise between belief and scepticism”.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
