Following on from their hugely successful knitting classes before Christmas, Niamh and Anne O’Máille of O’Máille’s, High Street, are organising more classes beginning next week.
The revival in knitting is well and truly under way and they were astounded at the response to the article in the Galway Advertiser last November. As a result they are now teaching beginners and intermediate knitters and Niamh has been busy designing new patterns for the classes.
The beginners can look forward to knitting headbands, beanie hats, scarves, berets, and bags, all decorated with knitted flowers and beads. The intermediate knitters will be knitting more complicated patterns and will also learn the traditional Aran stitches.
The classes were so popular before Christmas many of the knitters are coming back for the intermediate class. According to Niamh, all of the girls loved knitting and really enjoyed discovering their hidden talent. All of the knitters ended up making hats and scarves, many of which became Christmas presents.
There are places available in both the beginners and intermediate classes. The beginners’ class runs from Tuesday February 3 to Tuesday March 10 from 7pm to 9pm, and the intermediate class for anyone who has knitted before runs from Saturday January 31 to Saturday March 7 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The cost of the class is €90. Phone Anne on (086 ) 8240747 to book your place.
