Public lecture on the history of Islam in Ireland

A public lecture on the history of the Islamic faith in Ireland will be hosted by the Galway Interfaith Alliance in the Pillo Hotel, tonight at 7.30pm.

Dr Ali Selim will give a talk entitled The History of Islam in Ireland: A Journey of Coexistence, looking at the social, historical, and political circumstances that account for the congenial relationship found in Ireland between Christianity and Islam, in contrast to many other European countries.

Dr Selim is a senior member of staff at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland and has served as the Secretary General to the Irish Council of Imams. He promotes interfaith dialogue and lectures on Islam and multiculturalism at the Mater Dei Institute at Trinity College Dublin.

Admission to the talk is free and all are welcome
