The new Discovery Sport, described by Land Rover as the world's most versatile and capable premium compact SUV, is on the way in January.
With an entry level price of €37,100 for the 2.2 TD4 S model, the new Discovery Sport features 5+2 seating in a footprint no larger than existing 5-seat premium SUVs.
The Discovery Sport will be available in four trim levels – S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury.
Eddie Kavanagh, general manager of Land Rover Ireland, told us: “The Discovery Sport is competitively priced at €37,100. As you would expect from a Land Rover, it offers supreme versatility with a very generous and adaptable loadspace in the option 5+2 seating. And with Land Rover’s terrain response technology, it has been engineered to meet any challenge.
“We’re confident the Discovery Sport will be a big hit with our customers, both old and new, and we look forward to welcoming them to dealer showrooms in the coming weeks.”
The Discovery Sport will be equipped with a range of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Both the all-alloy Si4 2.0-litre petrol engine and the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel feature stop-start technology, high-pressure direct injection, low-friction internal components and smart regenerative charging for outstanding performance and economy.
Later in 2015, Land Rover says a highly efficient ED4 turbo-diesel engine will join the range with claimed CO2 emissions of 119g/km. Both nine- speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions are available.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has also just been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
