BRING YOUR own beer/mulled wine, wear something Christmassy, and dance your woolly socks off to the absolute cream of the Galway indie-music scene at the Galway Bands BYOB Xmas Gig.
Headlining the night will be the magnificent Dott. Led by vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Anna McCarthy, their music is an irresistible combination of garage-rock and indie-pop, as heard on their excellent debut album Swoon. The band have played SXSW in Texas and earned much praise from indie music journalists and bloggers.
The man immortalised by So Cow on the song ‘Barry Richardson’ is now leading his own band. Barry & The Richardsons, featuring Barry Richardson, Fuz from Boyfights, and other stalwarts of the Galway scene, will be taking to the stage as part of the BYOB concert.
Also playing will be Steven Sharpe & The Broke Straight Boys, post-rock duo It Was All A Bit Black & White; noise rock, alt punk trio Gummidge; and punk, alternative-rock, garage rockers Otto & The Dix, named after the German expressionist artist.
Doors open at 6.30pm. Admission is €7. To listen to most of the above bands check out Bandcamp.
