•Liam Mellows GAA Club, which celebrated its 75th birthday last year, is to launch the next phase of its development at the club grounds at Ballyloughane, Renmore. After securing planning permission last year, the club is now beginning development of a 4.5 acre portion of land, adjacent to the existing pitch at Ballyloughane, to provide an additional playing field. As part of this development, Liam Mellows GAA Club will be constructing a shoreline walkway for public use across the club's facilities. On Sunday (January 25 ) the club will host an official ceremony at 12 noon to mark the turning of the soil, to be conducted by Seán Duggan, former Galway hurling legend and a long standing member of Liam Mellows. •Galway United Supporters’ Trust will no longer be running the Galway United Lotto Draw. The long-standing lotto has been a successful arm in providing extra finance for the club. GUST chairperson Ronan Coleman says the group will continue to support United in other areas next season, and asks any group or individual within the club interested in continuing the draw to contact him or the club office. “I would like to thank all those who have supported the lotto draw since it was revived by GUST in April 2001 - our sponsors, our subscribers, all who bought tickets. In particular, I thank those contributed by selling tickets on a weekly basis,” he said.

• The West of Ireland Fun-Run takes place on Saturday January 31 in Castlebar. Organised by Lynch Hotels in association with RunIreland.com, the 10km event will take place in the grounds of the Breaffy House Hotel. The race is not based on performance, but prize medals will be presented on the day for categories ranging from junior athletes to senior participants. All entrants will receive a Fun Run T-shirt and will enjoy food and refreshments following the race. The entrance fee is €20.

•Fr Griffins - Eire Óg Gaelic Football Club is holding its AGM tonight at 8.30pm in the clubhouse at South Park, the Claddagh. Members, players, and new members are all invited to attend.
