My Darling Clementine @ Monroe’s Live

MY DARLING Clementine are not American, but they rival any American act when it comes to creating classy, down home, country’n’western.

The Birmingham duo - husband and wife team, Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish - take their inspirations from George Jones and Tammy Wynette, and classic country albums of the 1960s and 1970s. It is an approach which has seen them enjoy enormous critical acclaim.

The duo have released two albums, How Do You Plead? (2011 ) and The Reconciliation? (2013 ), which led Country Music People to declare they have “not made the best British country record ever, they have made the best two!”

Americana-UK declared My Darling Clementine have “throw down the gauntlet for anyone with aspirations of singing a country duet (and writing one too )”, while No Depression said the songs “sound like country classics even on first hearing”.

My Darling Clementine play Monroe’s Live this Sunday at 10pm. Tickets are €8 through www.monroes.ie or €10 on the door.
