4,000 face to face meetings planned for Meet West

Over 300 delegates have now registered to attend Meet West 2014 and organisers are predicting that the event will sell out before the official close of registration if target numbers are reached.

The two day business networking conference has attracted strong interest from businesses across the west of Ireland and further afield with some of Ireland’s leading companies signed up to attend.

4000 one to one tailored networking meetings will be held during the two day event complimented by a wide range of presentations, consultation areas and a networking dinner.

The event which has involved over four months of organisation takes place in the Galway Bay Hotel on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st November.

Key note speakers will include Ocean’s Seven Challenge swimmer Steve Redmond, ‘happiness’ doctor Dr. Mark Rowe and top management expert Frank Scott Lennon.

Galway’s creative economy will be showcased to delegates with over thirty of the county’s top local artisan producers on hand to display their produce while engaging in informal networking.

Speaking this week, Sheila Byrnes, Meet West project manager said that the structured networking meetings facilitated by Meet West were a huge selling point for the event.

“Unlike unstructured networking where people circulate and have chance encounters with possibly suitable contacts, structured networking allows companies to write their own profile, view profiles of companies in advance and give better more informed consideration to who would best suit them to meet,” said Sheila.

Delegates attending Meet West 2014 will be able to search the online catalogue of companies attending by profile, by sector or by keywords before selecting their choices for one to one meetings. The purpose built software system supporting the event will then match the delegates to their choices.

“Our aim is for each delegate to have as full a meeting schedule as possible with approximately 50% comprised of meetings they requested and 50% meetings that were requested of them.”

This is the fourth year of the conference which is organised in partnership with the local authorities in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, the local enterprise offices, IDA, Udaras na Gaeltachta and Enterprise Ireland.

Registration for Meet West closes on Friday November 7 at 5pm.
