An Taibhdhearc to host One Act Drama Festival

GALWAY CITY will hold its first competitive drama event when the annual Dunmore One Act Drama Festival is held in An Taibhdhearc from Thursday November 6 to Saturday 8.

The organisers have moved the festival to the city this year to bring it to the attention of a wider audience. Featured will be 10 groups from across the country, each performing a different one act play. The adjudicator will be Paula Dempsey and the winner will go on to compete in this year’s All Ireland One Act Drama finals in Ballyshannon, County Donegal.

The schedule is, Thursday November 6 - Shannonside Drama Group, Clare, present Laundry and Bourbon by James McLure (7pm ); Compantas Lír, Claregalway, Nine by Jane Shepherd (8pm ); Athlone Little Theatre, The Commission by Steven Dick (9pm ); Dunmore Amateur Drama Society, A Private Affair by Charles Emery (10pm ).

Friday 7 - Gorey Little Theatre, Being Norwegian by David Greig (8pm ); Dalkey Players, Tick My Box by Iseult Golden, David Horan, and Carmel Stephens (9pm ); Bradan Players, Leixlip, Unveiling by Vaclav Havel (10pm ).

Saturday 8 - Bualadh Bos Oranmore, The Furies by Neil LaBout (8pm ); Clann Machua Kiltimagh, Conception Pregnancy and Bert by Ken Armstrong (9pm ); Model Box Productions Wicklow, Stay Carol Stay by Peter Tolan (10pm ).
