Aindrias de Staic - The Man From Moogaga

'Staic' to give two performances of new show at Comedy Carnival

THERE WAS The Man From UNCLE, the man from Del Monte, The Man From Laramie, and ‘The Man From God Knows Where’, but Aindrias de Staic is The Man From Moogaga.

Aindrias de Staic, the Galway writer, performer, comedian, actor, and musician, who presents BBC2’s Buladh Busk and TG4’s The Jig Gig, will present his show, The Man From Moogaga at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway in The Ruby Rooms, The King’s Head, on Wednesday October 22 and Thursday 23 at 8pm.

Football, music, and mayhem will collide in this comic tale of jigs, reels, raggle taggle, and growing up in rural west of Ireland. It centers on the life and adventures of a young man from the town of Moogaga, who is a gifted musician, but dreams of playing Gaelic football for his town. Unfortunately he is not good enough to make the team.

Frustrated he leaves to travel across Europe and America, along the way acquiring new musical skills. Upon his return he finds Moogaga GAA Club has reached the club football finals, and a man short, they need him to tog out for the side. Can he inspire his team to win the cup?

“Everywhere I go, I find I’m talking about the towns, villages, and characters I knew in my youth,” says Aindrias. “The show has just developed naturally from these songs and stories. The Man from Moogaga is about the small town Ireland of the eighties and nineties, a really crazy place! I’m also looking forward to being back on stage, especially as we’ll be mixing some lively violin music with a loop pedal and banging out some great funny stories in the show.”

Tickets are €10 on the door, which opens at 7.30pm. Early arrival is advised as there is limited unreserved seating. See www.vodafonecomedycarnival.com
