THE HARDCORE Priests Of Yemen, Mikey and the Scallywags, and a host of musicians will be live across three stages and two venues playing everything from Irish trad to world music, in a fundraising concert for Pieta House.
Scléip sna Tithe - Hooley in the Houses, organised by Áras na Gael and Galway Arts Centre, takes place this Saturday (September 27 ), and is in memory of Conor Cribbin who worked closely with both venues.
The event starts with a trad session in the Áras at 8.30pm. At 9.30pm The Soprano Bats, who featured in the show Midsummer, during the Galway International Arts Festival, will play blues, folk, jazz, and rockabilly classics on the ground floor of the arts centre.
Afterwards in the Áras, bluegrass, gypsy, hip-hop seven-piece Mikey and the Scallywags plays, followed in the arts centre by The Clandestinos who mix roots, reggae, Latin, and ska. Concluding the live music section are fusionists The Hardcore Priests of Yemen, who play ska, punk, funk, jazz, trad, and blugrass. This will be followed by DJ sets in the Áras.
Admission is €5 and all proceeds go to Pieta House, a non-profit organisation providing a specialised treatment programme for people who have suicidal ideation or who participate in self-harming. See www.pieta.ie
