Eddi Reader to play Moycullen

Scottish singer to join The Alan Kelly Gang on nationwide tour

EDDI READER, one of Scotland’s great folk-rock singers returns to Galway to play The Forge in Moycullen, in the company of The Alan Kelly Gang on Saturday October 4 at 9pm.

First emerging in the late 1980s with Fairground Attraction and the hit single ‘Perfect’, Reader has grown into one of Scotland’s most admired singers, with a string of acclaimed albums, such as her 1992 debut Mirmama, Eddi Reader Sings The Songs Of Robert Burns (2003 ) and Peacetime (2007 ). Eddi’s husband John Douglas of The Trash Can Sinatras will also play at the gig. The Alan Kelly Gang are on a high at the moment with the release of their new album, The Last Bell, which they are promoting on this nationwide tour with Eddi and John. Eddi guested on the album, doing vocals for ‘The Sleeping Policeman’ and ‘Music Makers’.

The Gang - Alan Kelly (piano accordion ), Steph Geremia (flute /vocal /sax/whistle ), Alasdair White (fiddle ), Tony Byrne (guitar ), Manus Lunny (bouzouki ), Ewan Vernal (bass ), Martin O’Neill (bodhrán ) and Jim Higgins (percussion ) - recorded the album in Dublin and it features both traditional and original music.

Irish Music Magazine called The Last Bell “most definitely a winner” while Folk Radio UK said the band have “a drive and energy that will keep the chill out of the coldest winter night”.
