Listen to stream of new Steven Sharpe single

STEVEN SHARPE & The Broke Straight Boys debut double A-sided single 'Tipperary Song/Uganda', which has just been released, is a fine showcase for Sharpe's diverse and considerable talent.

The Tipperary born, Galway based Sharpe is one of the most flamboyant and exciting musicians to emerge on the Irish scene in recent years. He combines Led Zeppelin blues rock and dextrous acoustic ballads; lyrics which range from biting social satire to the realities of contemporary gay life; and vocals which can handle a full throated Robert Plant style delivery, convey the excitement of getting a date; or the lonely plight of a gay man in a hostile country.

These facets are brought together seamlessly on this excellent single. 'Tipperary Song', propelled by Dylan Murphy's fast paced blues-rock riff, is a modern-day Valley Of The Squinting Windows take on small town Irish life; while the beautiful acoustic guitar work of 'Uganda' contrasts with the horror faced by gay people in a country where homosexuality is punishable by death or torture.
