Fallon represents Ireland at World Champs

Craughwell AC’s young star Jamie Fallon represents Ireland in this weekend’s World Mountain Running Championships in Tuscany Italy.

The race takes place over a distance of 8.4km which includes a 700m ascent.

Fallon will run alongside other Irish juniors Killian Mooney and Rick McNally.

Monivea 5km

More than 80 runners took part in the Monivea Run in the Woods 5km, organised by Abbeyknockmoy GAA Club on Sunday. Celbridge AC athlete, the fast improving Philip Niland, won well in a good time of 17.37, ahead of Paul Gately and David Meehan of Athenry AC. First woman home was Maura Meenaghan of Tuam AC in 22.56 - her first race victory - just ahead of Mary Jordan in second.

Fixtures

•This year’s Clifden Lifeboats 10k race takes place on Sunday, and registration on the day will take place from 12.30pm. The race will begin at 2pm at the Court House.

•The inaugural Killeeneen National School fundraising 5k Road Race will take place Thursday September 18 at 7pm. The race consists of two laps of a scenic route. Race HQ is at Killeeneen National School.
