THE MUSIC of Russian romantic composers Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Taneyev, Borodin, and Medtner, will be heard in the Town Hall Theatre from Friday January 23 to Sunday 25.
Music For Galway’s Russian Romantics festival will feature performances by ConTempo, baritone Conor Biggs, pianists Ian Fountain and Pádhraic Ó Cuinneagáin, viola player Simon Aspell, and cellist Christopher Marwood.
The festival begins on Friday 23 at 8pm with performances of works by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky. This is followed by Mussorgsky’s celebrated Pictures At An Exhibition on Saturday at 2pm, with further performances of Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, and Taneyev at 8pm. On Sunday works by Tchaikovsky, Borodin, and Medtner will be performed at 3pm.
