Steven Sharpe to launch new single at Róisín Dubh

STEVEN SHARPE & The Broke Straight Boys will mark the launch of their new download only double A-side single ‘Tipperary Song/Uganda’ with a show in the Róisín Dubh on Friday September 12.

The blues-rocker in a sequinned dress, Steven has emerged as one of the most flamboyant and exciting new talents on the Galway musical scene. His music combines the hard-rocking blues and R&B stomp of bands like Led Zeppelin, with moments of delicate, dextrous folk. Lyrically he explores modern gay life with insight, humour, and a flair for telling stories.

The Broke Straight Boys are David Shaughnessy (My Fellow Sponges ), Shane O'Malley (from Led Zeppelin cover band No Stairway ), and solo folk/blues musician Dylan Murphy. There will also be special guests on the night.

For the show, Steven and the band will be “going bigger again! We're throwing everything into this launch. New songs, new dress, same high standard”.

Last December, Steven released his first live album Hot Mess – Live from the Róisín Dubh which is available through Bandcamp.

Support is from Dylan Murphy, performing his own brand of “slap-guitar-happy-awk-folk”, backed by David Shaughnessy and Shane O'Malley.

Tickets are €5 through www.roisindubh.net or €7 at the door. Tickets are also available through the Ticket Deck at OMG (Zhivago ), Shop Street and The Róisín Dubh.
