The return of Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip

DAN LE Sac Vs Scroobius Pip are creating a huge stir with their take on pop/hip-hop, and will return to Galway to play ‘Stress!! Presents...’ at the Róisín Dubh on Saturday February 7 at 8pm.

Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip are a two-piece pop/electro hip-hop band based either side of London, but originally hailing from Stanford-le-Hope in Essex. Scroobius Pip - the name is an intentional misspelling of the Edward Lear poem The Scroobious Pip - delivers witty and shockingly spot-on decrees over Dan le Sac’s mesmeric beats.

Over the 18 months, the duo have been building a steady profile and generating much interest thanks to the singles ‘Thou Shalt Always Kill’, ‘Beat That My Heart Skipped’, and the Radiohead sampling ‘A Letter From God To Man’.

‘Thou Shalt Always Kill’ became the most publicly requested track yet on XFM’s Xposure show while The Guardian hailed it as “2007’s first underground anthem”. Their low-fi video clocked up nearly two million views on YouTube, and by the year’s end Le Sac and Pip suddenly found themselves in the Best Of 2007 lists across the globe.

Their debut album Angles was released in May. It was described by The Guardian as “an intelligent debut” and the review compared Pip to punk poet John Cooper Clarke. The NME described the pair as “contenders in the Mike Skinner school of Brit-hop, albeit with more with lyrics about pants, socks and the Periodic table.”

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
