An event specifically aimed at the interests and concerns of seniors is shortly returning to Galway. Called The Senior Times Over 50s Show, it is described by the organisers as “the ultimate lifestyle event for the west’s seniors” , which is “entertaining, informative, and educational” and will take place at the Salthill Hotel on Sunday August 31 and Monday September 1.
There will be more than 70 exhibitors at the event, ranging from McSharry’s Pharmacy and The Revenue Commissioners to Specsavers and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
There will also be a programme of presentations on health topics as well as free health screenings for blood pressure, vision, and hearing. Other features include gardening clinics hosted by Gerry Daly, wine tasting, genealogy workshop, and antique valuations. Bridge lessons will be on offer as well as dancing sessions for the experienced and beginners.
According to the organisers, the event offers the over-50s “a one-stop shop” to get information on their physical and financial health, as well as enjoying many of their interests and hobbies, not to mention an excellent opportunity to meet up with their peers from all over the region and beyond.
The event will offer a combination of displays, demonstrations, and presentations all featuring interests and subjects highly relevant to seniors. Interests in the mix will include health, finance, travel, statutory and legal rights, fashions and make-overs, hobbies, coin, stamp, and note valuations, and golf lessons. The SEAI will be hosting a talk on each day giving advice on ways to reduce home energy bills.
Admission is €5, but free tickets can be obtained by going to page 8 of this week’s Galway Advertiser.
