Dean Barton, son of late Smokie frontman Alan Barton, and the band Spirit Of Smokie will perform the greatest hits of Smokie and tracks from Room with a View, the posthumous album from Alan Barton, this month at Monroe's Live.
Alan Barton tragically died on March 23 1995 in a Cologne hospital as a result of an accident involving the band’s tour bus. In 2008, his son Dean Barton united with Alan's song writing partner and guitarist Andy Whelan to form Spirit of Smokie. In the years prior to his father’s death, they were working on material for his second solo album but due to his untimely death, the album was never completed.
Over a decade later, Dean and Andy decided to finish the project, titled Room with a View, together with Graham Kearns and Smokie's record producer Neil Ferguson.
The band is now touring the album and performing the greatest hits of the original Smokie line-up throughout Europe and Asia to great acclaim.
Spirit of Smokie play Monroe's Live Main Stage on Thursday September 11. Doors 9.30pm, tickets are €15/€20 and are available online at www.monroes.ie
