Galway’s Cathal Daniels is celebrating helping Ireland to team gold at the Junior European Eventing Championships in England.
The 17-year-old’s final clear round clinched the team medal, while he also picked up the individual silver medal.
It was a dramatic rally in the show jumping phase of the championships in England that enabled Ireland to win gold for a second year in a row.
Daniels said it was very tight at the top going into the last round. “ All team members knew we had to jump clear in order to take gold. We’re all very good in the show jumping phase, with great horses, so that’s what we did.”
