Galway WFC to face UCD Waves

Galway WFC will travel to Dublin on Sunday August 24 on the opening day of the season to play UCD Waves in the WNL.

The first home game for the Galway team will be in Eamonn Deacy Park on Sunday August 31 against Peamount United.

It is sure to be an interesting battle with the Waves being very active in attracting new players over the summer, including Galway natives Dora Gorman and Julie Ann Russell. Galway WFC’s top scorer Sinead Taylor has also transferred to UCD as work commitments saw her move to the capital.

It is a challenge new Galway WFC manager Don O’Riordan says he will relish: “We’ve worked hard on new strategies over the last number of weeks. A key focus was for me to get to know the girls’ individual strengths. Our season opener should be an interesting game.”
