Little Cinema is a monthly short film showcase set up in Galway in 2010 by three film-maker friends fresh out of college. It showcases films of all genres made by talented local film-makers of all levels from beginners to professionals. It's been dubbed as the 'open mic night for film makers'.
Over the four years it has screened over 400 films from over 170 film makers and has provided an invaluable platform for film-makers and film-lovers to meet, network, showcase their work and simply enjoy films. Recently, Little Cinema got backing from actor Chris O’Dowd who provided funds for some top notch equipment and became Little Cinema’s patron.
Little Cinema is steadily growing in an organic way with lots of exciting ideas and events in the pipeline. It was involved with the Galway Film Fleadh for the first time ever this year, it is hitting the Electric Picnic at the end of the month and planning a mini festival in September.
As of this month, Little Cinema Galway has also moved its screenings from Upstairs in Kelly's Bar to the Roisin Dubh Pub.. The Roisin Dubh is a very exciting step as the venue has an incredible, long-standing reputation both online and offline and is a great hub for the arts and the craic. Little Cinema also announced its new printing sponsor Castle Print Galway.
“The quality of their printing is second to none and their service is always super fast and very friendly. We have already felt the benefits of having top notch business cards to give out and have people bounce back to us! Little Cinema is very much a labour of love and so to be able to get support in this way has been invaluable for us,” said a spokesperson.
