Beth Nielsen Chapman to play Galway

BETH NIELSEN Chapman, the twice Grammy-nominated Nashville singer-songwriter, who has written songs for Willie Nelson, Bette Midler, and Faith Hill, is coming to Galway.

Chapman has announced a tour of Ireland which takes in the Black Box Theatre on Thursday September 25 at 8pm. Her new single ‘Simple Things’, from this year’s Uncovered album, comes out the following day.

A breast cancer survivor, environmental activist, teacher of workshops, and lecturer on creativity, Chapman has written hit songs for such country titans as Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson (all superb songwriters themselves ), as well as Bonnie Raitt, Bette Midler, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Trisha Yearwood, Michael McDonald, Amy Grant, Keb Mo’, Roberta Flack, and Faith Hill.

Uncovered features songs which have been performed by other artists, but that Chapman has never recorded herself, such as the aforementioned ‘Simple Things’ (with backing vocals by Kim Carnes ); ‘Shine On Me’ (a co-write with Waylon Jennings and featuring Duane Eddy on guitar ); while the album also features the talents of Amy Grant, Gretchen Peters, and Fairport Convention’s Martin Allcock.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
