DRUID BEGAN rehearsals this week on a new Tom Murphy play, Brigit, and on his 1985 classic Bailegangaire, both of which will be staged in the Town Hall Theatre in September.
Brigit will receive its world premiere when it opens in the Town Hall on Tuesday 9 at 8pm. Starring Jane Brennan and Marie Mullen, the play traces the lives of the women of Bailegangaire, going back 40 years and is a companion piece to that earlier work. The plays will be directed by Garry Hynes.
Both plays will be perfomed at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway from September 9 to 21, with the World Premiere of Brigit and the opening night of Bailegangaire in a double bill on Sunday September 14. Bailegangaire will play at the Clifden Arts Festival on September 23 and 24; followed by Dublin performances of both plays at the The Olympia Theatre from October 1 to 5 as part of this year’s Dublin Theatre Festival.
Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
