Felix Da Housecat to play Electric’s birthday weekend

THE ELECTRIC Garden and Theatre celebrates its second birthday with a weekend of international, cutting edge, electronica, and a DJ set from no less than Felix Da Housecat.

Bap To The Future and Epoch have organised a series of shows, starting tonight with sets from Dublin grime producer Major Grave and Irish-Kenyan hip hop duo mynameisjOhn & Godknows, who are currently touring their critically acclaimed debut album Rusangano/Family.

Greek DJ XDB will make his Galway debut on Friday 25. Known for his brand of spacey house, techno, and electro, XDB (AKA Kosta Athanassiadas ) has released on labels such as Patrice Scott’s Sistrum, Steffi’s Dolly and Echocord, as well as his own imprint Metrolux.

Belgian producer Stellar Om Source will make her first appearance in Galway on Saturday 26. Her live sets mix hypnotic drum machine rhythms with shimmering synthesiser melodies. Her debut album, Joy One Mile, was praised by Pitchfork and FACT, and appeared in many end-of-year lists in 2013. Support is from Simon Conway.

Saturday will see the mighty Felix Da Housecat tearing it up on the main floor of Electric while in The Garden, Anthony Collins will host the ‘Electric Boat-Party after-party,’ with The Revenge, from 11pm. On Sunday Dublin’s Keep Schtum will supply the beats in Biteclub while brunch is being served from 2pm. Music will continue late into the night.
