Renowned Galway-based photographer, Martina Regan, has announced the launch of a new discipline within her career as she specialises in fine art equine photography through her business, The Equine Photographer.
Marking Regan’s work within this specialised area will be the opening of her exhibition, Majestic Spirit, which will take place in the g Hotel throughout Galway Race Week from Monday July 28 to Sunday August 3.
Born out of the personal passion Regan has for horse riding and nature, The Equine Photographer showcases the captivating beauty and elegance of a horse in its natural environment, and the enduring relationship of a horse and its owner. With more than 10 years’ experience in photography, Regan’s work is renowned for her mastery of light and capturing the character of her subjects, two skills which translate magnificently into the essence of equine photography. Visiting horse yards nationwide, her work succeeds using specific and detailed lighting to capture the rich texture of the horse, the beauty of nature, and the captivating tone of emotion between man and horse.
Prior to the official launch of The Equine Photographer, a number of top jockeys have signed up for equine photo shoots, including Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner Davy Russell.
Speaking of her new creative venture, Regan said; “There is such a strong bond between horses and their owners. My aim is to bring that to life through the lens. Over the years horse owners would have commissioned painted portraits of their favourite horse. What we do is real time portraiture of horse owners’ prized animals. This bespoke experience employs unique viewpoints created with each individual horse and owner in mind throughout the whole process.
“It’s a privilege to create this special experience and the lasting pieces of artwork horse owners will have forever. The response to The Equine Photographer has been so positive and I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
